Update on the Poll and Wipe

Firstly, thank you all for your patience and understanding in the past few days.

As a company, we've carefully considered all our options, and we believe the best path forward is Option 1, to do a world-only wipe of the game (character XP carries over into the new world). The game requires a wipe, and this is the only option that keeps all of the promises we’ve made to you as a community.

I would also like to apologize to the community for the poll and all the confusion surrounding it. Not only to our players, but also to our moderators who have been doing their best given the situation. We have not done a great job communicating here and we want to do better.

The idea behind doing a poll was that we felt that each of the options presented could be beneficial to the game, and we wanted to see if the community as a whole was aligned behind a single direction. Based on the results of the poll, it is clearly not.

In addition to proceeding with a world-only wipe, we are also going to do a few things for the players who voted for the other two options:

  1. We are going to give players the option to wipe their own character experience in the new Early Access world, if they choose to do so.,
  2. For players, who want to know that their progress in the game is not in vain, or who have not tried the game because they don’t want to lose all their progress, we are also announcing that when we create the final BitCraft world, we will NOT be wiping the Early Access world. Players will keep their progress when the final world launches. We do not believe this will split the community, because the vast majority of players will be playing BitCraft for the first time in the launch world.,

I only hope that after this wipe you will add some money and item drains to stabilize the player based economy. Things like food spoiling , vehicle and buildings maintenance, armor and clothes wear and tear, tools and weapons durability and break. Without those you won't have any player driven economy and you will fall in the most common trap of all player economy based MMO's, an economic glut.

I want to thank CWL for the regular blog posts. With Discord establishing their unconscionable teen-by-default policy forcing age verification upon users, I cannot continue to use that platform. As such, and since the other social media platforms you have selected are uniformly WORSE in various ways - all that I have left to stay informed on game developments is this blog and in-game chat. PLEASE review your choices about communicating with customers. I will check in here occasionally, but I receive no notifications of new posts, and your login process does not exactly encourage daily visits. Oh, and yeah - wipe it!! Wipe it once or twice a year

I and many of the people I have played with actively want a wipe to happen *on launch* so we can have a fresh start with all the new mechanics from Alpha, and play on equal ground with all the friends who didn't want to play the early access while still being on equal footing with other players. I'm glad you're taking steps to consider what's best for the game rather than rely on a community poll, but going too far the other direction rather than just going back to what everyone's original expectation was is not the move!

Most of the players wanted a complete reset, world AND skills, the difference was only if this will be the final wipe or not. Choosing to wipe only the world and let the most advanced players to keep their skills and the make a second world is the worst decision. Not only the player base will be split but it will directly and negatively affect the players driven economy. One world will have a lot of producers with nobody to buy their products and a second world with a lot of demand and no producers but with fewer players. This will make a lot of players to quit because they will feel the game is unfair.

Just a follow up. When I last looked at the poll it had been closed with a little over 3,000 players having had a chance to let the company know their choice. Now when I try to look at the poll I see that it has been removed entirely. I'm sure that there were probably a lot more players than that who would have responded to the poll had it remained up and open. I want to make it clear that from a business standpoint asking your customers for their input on how the company should proceed and then first stopping many of them from giving you their choice by closing the poll early, and then intentionally removing the poll when the nearly 3/4ths of the early respondents where indicating going in a different direction than some people in management were hoping for, could have a serious impact on how your customers perceive the company actually wants and listens to their input in the future.(edited)

That's definitely gonna split the community. All the old people that want to keep their progress will bé on the old server and all the new people will bé on the other, how does that not split the community? You should definitely bé doing a full wipe regardless of going for option 1 at this time, but honestly that's just not the right move either. It would bé so much smarter to do a full wipe now, i think you are putting too much stake in new people buying the game on release, when the truth is most of your player base is already here. If you full wipe now the majority of the players you will ever have will start playing immediately, breaking it up like this is gonna cause the old server to die eventually, or even the new one, and you will end up losing players due to the wait of the next wipe, and the death of that server down the road. Idk just my opinion, i think you should have stuck with the poll at the least because I bet most people voted for a full wipe(edited)

Looking at the poll it shows that 71% of those players who have voted so far for options 2 & 3 want to have a full wipe including XP. I have a feeling that the minority who voted for option 1 are players who have maxed out their XP and want to keep their advantage over the other 71% that want everyone to start off at 0.
