September 24, 2026: Twitch Stream Overview & Audience Q&A

Hey everyone, Lutra here! Below, you'll find a summary of some of the player questions from our recent Twitch stream. As stream summaries are a new format for us, please share your thoughts on whether you find this helpful. If it's useful, I'd be glad to continue creating these summaries for the community! Do keep in mind a lot will be cut from this blog post just down to the fact that I don't want it to be really long. Additionally, some questions might need a deeper explanation, so the questions you see here are ones answered on stream that have a clear answer to them.
Twitch Stream September 24th 2026
BitCraft Online Stream Host: Morgan - Art Director

This stream combined a short patch note reading with a fresh character playthrough. The main message from the Twitch stream was that the team is prioritizing stability and performance before moving deeper into profession updates. Morgan also did a playthrough to experience the early game directly, collect community feedback, and explain why seemingly simple requests such as bridges, dynamic lighting, and house windows involve wider technical systems.
Questions and Answers From the Stream + Time Stamps
Q: How much did performance improve?
00:12:16 A: Memory use was said to be 2.5 to 3 GB lower during normal gameplay. CPU improvements also shipped, and several viewers reported lower RAM usage during the stream.
Q: Why change the update cadence?
00:19:02 A: We are adjusting our update cadence to focus on long-standing bug fixes and performance improvements. Moving away from a rigid release schedule allows us to deploy quick fixes more effectively and dedicate the necessary time to resolving key issues.
Q: Is the early game still being improved?
00:26:05 A: Yes. Morgan said the tutorial and individual quests are much stronger than before, while settlement work and other planned changes also connect back to the early game loop.
Q: Is trade or the market being revisited?
00:28:10 A: Yes, at a design level. The team is considering balance, stronger incentives, and how easily goods should move across a region.
Q: Will roads and settlements have true dynamic lights?
01:02:13 A: Probably not in the conventional sense. Large numbers of point lights would be too expensive in player-built towns, and rendering them would slow down the game. BitCraft instead uses fake glows at night. As we let players build as much as they want, you could imagine walking into a town with 1000s point lights and your game would most likely crash.
Q: Why keep the day-night cycle?
01:05:34 A: It was treated as a core requirement from the beginning because it makes the world feel lived in and shows time progressing.
Q: Will the current world be wiped?
01:35:29 A: Morgan said the current world will not be wiped. Additional worlds are expected, and the team is exploring ways to deliver fresh start energy without erasing permanent progress.
Q: What did the SpacetimeDB update change?
01:45:32 A: It was mainly a server and back-end upgrade. Players should encounter fewer hiccups, while developers gain newer server capabilities for future systems.
Q: Why are bridges so difficult?
01:47:30 and 03:32:45 A: The team would love bridges, but the implementation touches pathfinding, boats, terrain, water, and vertical positioning. The server does not naturally distinguish walking on top of a bridge from moving underneath it. Furthermore, it could lead to potential griefing cases where players take each other's bridges up and down. Because Bridges are highly complex, we are looking into other solutions.
Q: Can capes have colors unrelated to an empire?
01:55:36 A: Technically, the rendering can support it, but capes are still treated as empire-only equipment. The equipment and membership rules would need to be generalized first.
Q: Does the team see support reports?
02:06:17 and 02:09:03 A: Yes. Morgan said the information is collected and studied, and Lutra provides recurring summaries of frequently reported issues.
Lutra Note: Hey everyone! Just jumping in to add a quick note here since I handle most of the incoming tickets. I personally review all of your feedback and bug reports from BitCraft Support, Discord, streams, and emails! I pass these along to our team every day and week, sharing them directly with our game designers, engineers, and QA folks. I also spend a lot of time hunting down and reporting bugs myself, I wear quite a few hats around here. I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone submitting feedback and reporting bugs, your support is instrumental in helping us refine and shape BitCraft Online!
Q: Will crafting stations look different at higher tiers?
02:11:58 A: Models for several tiers existed, but producing unique assets for every tier is expensive. Morgan would personally like clearer visual progression, possibly at selected tier intervals.
Q: Are new animals or monsters coming soon?
02:42:25 A: The team is always considering creatures, mounts, and pets but we have nothing to announce at this time.
Q: What does the art pipeline look like?
03:00:50 A: Game design provides a functional prompt and footprint requirements. Art and design then work through scale, the hex grid, player interaction, visual readability, and iteration before the asset is ready for implementation.
Q: What happened to ocean platforms?
03:27:58 A: They remain a priority. The physical platform work largely exists, but server-side setup and dependencies involving water, terraforming, and travel still need to be resolved.
